Revolution of Electric Chair
Invention of the electric chair is highly revolutionary and reveals a scientific rivalry between two scientists ; Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse. Both were trying to win the electrical lucrative electricity contracts . It was the hot potato of that time as this was the beginning of the electronic era . People were crazy to welcome the electronic revolution. Invention of the electric chair is the chain of that catenation.
Dynamo-Electric Machinery used in This Invention
The most widely used apparatus for this invention is the dynamo-electric machinery which allows intermittent currents . Edison remarked : “ The most effective of these are known as “ alternative machines” manufactured at the basic large scale of Geo.Westinghouse.
Contribution Of Thomas Edison
Edison’s contribution to the development of the electric chair was twisted , barbaric and highly brittle. He made sure that Westinghouse electric chair was chosen by secretly funding another electricity engineer to swiftly build the device. He developed the direct current voltage. The New York Times remarked that this chair was a tool of death.
The First Victim
The first victim; William Kemmler , a drunk who killed his wife with a hatchet. Westinghouse hired Kemmler, the best attorney he could find. On August 6, 1890 , Kemmler died in an experiment of an electric chair. His body took several hours to cool off. Newspaper called him , “ The Poor Wretch “ . Westinghouse was horrified.

Contribution Of George Westinghouse
Westinghouse was the rival of Thomas Edison in the field of electric chair invention. He introduced an alternative current voltage which was a great step to invent the electric chair . In August 1890, he made an experiment in which the first victim named William Kemmler died due to electric shocks. Later this death acted as a milestone in the invention of the electric chair.
Conclusion
Now we are living in highly scientific modified societies in which each and everything is just on single click. Electric chairs are also “ Garden of Eden ‘’ for disables peoples . All these comfort abilities to disable ones are scientific struggles of Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse.
